Academic Performance Index (API). For the Creative, Performing and Media Arts Middle School, as for all schools in California, the Academic Performance Index reflects the school’s performance on the student assessments included in the state’s Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program. In 2008 CPMA exceeded its API growth targets, schoolwide and for three of its four numerically significant subgroups : White students, African American students and socioeconomically disadvantaged students. The school’s Hispanic student subgroup failed to meet its API growth target by a single point.  Neither English learners nor students with disabilities represented numerically significant subgroups at CPMA.   API results in 2008 represent a notable improvement in comparison with the previous year when only the socioeconomically disadvantaged students subgroup met its API target.
